Meet The Traders
meet the traders
As the weather grows cooler, we thought we’d head up north to pay our Scottish pals a visit!
Here are the best of the traders from our recent Edinburgh event.
“Miss Dixie Belle is a vintage-inspired
boutique and beauty parlour, specialising
in looks from the 20’s to the 60’s. It was
opened in 2010 and it was the first of its
kind in Scotland. The Scottish Vintage
scene has everything you need on your
door step and is still thriving. Between
Glasgow and Edinburgh we’re lucky enough
to boast a host of young creatives who
continue to develop new businesses and
projects to keep the scene alive. It’s always
fun to have Judy’s here as it is a mecca for
all things vintage. I can’t think of a better
way to spend a Saturday or Sunday than
searching for one off pieces and retro home
wares followed by a bit of pampering at
MDB’s pop up parlour!”
Emma Dixon, Miss Dixie Belle
We sell a mixture of ladies and gents
vintage clothing, mainly from the 50s onwards, accessories and a small select of
homewards and trinkets. After 6 grueling
months of trying to find a job in London my
mum and I developed a successful vintage
pop-up shop. When she suggested we
do it together, full-time I was immediately
on-board, as I saw a gap in Edinburgh’s
market, particularly for this sort of thing. The
best shops are in Glasgow and Edinburgh
I believe where established vintage shops
are really popular with younger people,
such as students, who are specifically
developing a *neo*-vintage style of their
own. Judy’s events are fantastic! They are
always a huge success and a great way
to bring lots of vintage together in one big
room for vintage lovers, who specifically
seek out these sorts of events.
