Rio was the fourth Olympics for nine athletes. Of that lot, only Telma Monteiro (POR) managed to get a medal though.

Double Honours

Four Rio 2016 gold medallists were also winners at the

2015 Astana World Championships: Paul Pareto (ARG), Shohei Ono (JPN), Tina Trstenjak (SLO) and Teddy Riner (FRA). In London 2012, five gold medallists had won in the 2011 Paris World Championships: Kim Jae-Bum (KOR), Lucie Decosse (FRA), Tagir Khaibulaev (RUS), Teddy Riner (FRA) and Wen Tong (CHN).
