THE OPTICIANS EYE VIEW REPORT PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO SYSTEM The Opticians of Ontario recently showed their true spirit at the Vision Canada Trade Show and Professional Learning series held in Toronto. Their excitement and engagement in the incredible learning experiences made available, was evident by the activity on social media and by the record breaking attendance numbers. The implementation of the new Professional Portfolio system in Ontario has been a long arduous journey. That said, we announce with a positive sigh of relief, Opticians are embracing the opportunity. The distinction between accredited learning and non-accredited (self-directed) learning was abundantly clear as both lecture halls at Vision Canada were full. Opticians embraced the concept of selfdirected learning and came to an understanding of the requirements in both categories.
