Dr . Guthrie , who practices optometry in Bancroft , Ontario , completed his undergraduate degree ( BSc . Science ) at the University of Waterloo . He received his Doctor of Optometry Degree in Illinois , with extensive ocular disease training at University of Chicago Hospitals , Veterans Hospitals of Detroit , Michigan and West Palm Beach Florida and a Florida surgical practice .
The OAO Board of Directors thanks Dr . Jeff Goodhew , who completes his term as OAO President , for the exemplary work , dedication and leadership he has shown in his time as president .
BAUSCH + LOMB LAUNCHES # ONEBYONE RECYCLING PROGRAM
Bausch + Lomb recently launched of the # ONEbyONE recycling program to encourage consumers to help preserve the environment recycling their contact lenses .
Patients can now recycle their used Biotrue ONEday contact lenses and other Bausch + Lomb contact lenses and blister packs through a unique and free program , in partnership with TerraCycle , a world leader in the collection and repurposing of hard-to-recycle post-consumer waste .
“ This is the first time we have recycled at a large-scale in this category and we hope the Bausch + Lomb # ONEby- ONE program will inspire participation from current and future patients who previously have not had an option to recycle their contact lenses ,” said Tom Szaky , CEO of TerraCycle .
ROSEMARY KAVANAGH AWARDED DAYTON FORMAN AWARD
CNIB has awarded the Dr . Dayton M . Forman Memorial Award for 2016 to the late Rosemary Kavanagh for her dedication and tireless efforts over the years to ensure that people who are blind or partially sighted had access to equitable library service .
The award , established by the CNIB Library Board in 1996 , recognizes outstanding leadership in the advancement of library and information services for Canadians living with vision loss or print disabilities .
Kavanagh constantly imagined new ways to offer services for CNIB library users and , more generally , people with print disabilities , the CNIB says . She was a strategic thinker who was passionate about the role of nonprofits in societal development and change , particularly as it related to people with vision loss .
SAFILO ANNOUNCES AGREEMENT WITH RAG & BONE
Safilo Group has announced a new license agreement for the design , manufacturing and worldwide distribution of the rag & bone collections of sunglasses and optical frames . The agreement will run for five years starting from January 2018 until December 31 , 2022 .
“ With rag & bone we add a directional brand to our growing designer portfolio that benefits from an interesting market shift towards new , trendy and experimental brands ," said Luisa Delgado , CEO of Safilo .
The license opens different new business growth opportunities , Delgado said , and is consistent with the company ' s strategy to diversify across segments capturing growth spaces , and innovate through trend setting brands .
