Janet 4 Life

by Aishah Murray

Whether it's the Janfam that you identify with or the J-Tribe in some way shape of form Janet is definitely a major factor in your life. It’s through this amazing woman that we all are connected some how, and in some way!

Hello dearest reader! My name is Aishah "Spyder" Murray and I've been a Janet Jackson fan since I was about 2 years old, being that I just turned 33. That would mean I've been a fan for 31 years of my life! So you may ask how did you know that you were a fan at that young age? Well my first cassette tape (which I still have today) was Dream Street. I even remember when it was given to me! I tell you I've played that cassette tape soooooo many times too!

For me what makes me such a fan is how incredible Janet is. Such an amazing spirit, and such an amazing talent. Whether or not the industry recognises her, whether the new generation respects her gangster or not we her fans know who set the bar today for women artists in the pop field.

I myself am a street dancer so waiting to see what the latest choreography has always been a highlight for me. Watching what her music videos were going to look like for the latest single, watching other fans from around the world scream and do the things I did, to just have one special moment with her made me so full inside. She's been my favourite artist for years. In fact she is the only artist I've ever slept outside for!

The first time I sat anywhere that resembled first row was at 106 and Park during the Damita Jo Era. They put me in a special section right in front of her because I was wearing an outfit that was airbrushed with her picture on the back of it. I was completely stunned when she walked out that I was so close to her. I remember sitting there with my mouth wide open. I was so excited that when she was asked a question and didn't know the answer, I blurted out the answer. She looked at me and said, "Well there you go".
