#INDUCT JANET

by Mike Litherland

1. Tell us a little about yourself, where you are from, how long you have been a fan and why you became and remain a fan.

I’m originally from a small town in Ohio. Waynesville, OH, population less than 2,500 back then – and not very diverse. I was aware of Janet because of her roles on TV’s Good Times and later Diff’rent Strokes and I actually purchased Janet’s first album in 1982 on cassette. Like many, I didn’t become a huge fan until “Control.” I was completely blown away with each video she released. My brother, sisters and I literally wore through two or three “Control” cassettes before finally upgrading to CD. When “Rhythm Nation 1814” hit I was starting my senior year in high school. And once again, Janet had me mesmerised. From the message, to the music, to the dance – I was all in. And there would be no turning back.

All the way up through 2015’s “Unbreakable”, I’ve always considered Janet’s music to be the soundtrack of my life. With all major milestones in my life, I can link it with a Janet moment and memory.
