NEWS SERVICE N the run up to the Lok Sabha polls the political landscape here in Jammu and Kashmir is also getting decked up with different hues of flags and slogans renting the air. This time the poll arena has been extended to social networking sites and every effort has been made by the tech savvy leaders to reach out to the maximum number of voters in the virtual world of web to bolster their poll prospects. Apart from social networking sites the political parties have extended their battle lines to routine day to day activities and trying to influence the different segments of voters to improve their chances of winning the crucial battle at the hustings. Even before the issuance of poll notification the different party candidates have already kick started their door to door campaign and started addressing street corner meetings to garner more and more votes in their support. The BJP candidates in Jammu region, Jugal Kishore and Dr Jitendra Singh, riding high on the pro Narendra Modi wave in several BJP ruled states are hoping to encash in on the anti-congress mood here in Jammu region and on the other hand the National Conference is banking heavily on the support of the congress party in Kashmir region to romp home victoriously. Fate of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Dr Mehboob Baig will be decided by the electorate already unhappy with the performance of the alliance govt in the state. The National Conference candidates will have to work hard to win back the support of the people as already mood is changing in the valley and many political pundits are already predicting photo finish and growing support in favour of PDP candidates. The biggest challenge is ahead of the Congress party. On one hand it is facing the nation wide anti-incumbency and coupled with it the anti-incumbency against the sitting party MP's may force the party high command to change their heart and force Ghulam Nabi Azad to throw his hat in the ring from Udhampur- Doda Lok Sabha seat. With the arrival of Azad in the fray the Lok Sabha seat would witness a close fight between the BJP and Congress candidate. For the time being Azad has maintained that he is not willing to contest the seat but in the absence of formal announcement by the party high command the party cadre is not getting the clear picture.
