HOW TO PLAY – MORE DETAIL
If you want to play a slightly more detailed version of JagTag,
and understand some more of the American Football terminology
used, take a look at the following section.
• O
ffense vs Defense: Each team takes it in turns to be the
‘offense’ team to try and move up the field and score a touchdown.
The job of the defense is to stop the offense from progressing up
the field and/or scoring a touchdown.
• D
owns: Each team has a number of ‘downs’ (attempts) to get the
ball upfield and/or score a touchdown. If a team doesn’t score a
touchdown after its last down, play switches and the opposition
take possession and become the offensive team. You can decide how
many downs each team has – maybe 3 for smaller games and 4 or
5 for larger games.
