HOW TO PLAY – MORE DETAIL If you want to play a slightly more detailed version of JagTag, and understand some more of the American Football terminology used, take a look at the following section. • O  ffense vs Defense: Each team takes it in turns to be the ‘offense’ team to try and move up the field and score a touchdown. The job of the defense is to stop the offense from progressing up the field and/or scoring a touchdown. • D  owns: Each team has a number of ‘downs’ (attempts) to get the ball upfield and/or score a touchdown. If a team doesn’t score a touchdown after its last down, play switches and the opposition take possession and become the offensive team. You can decide how many downs each team has – maybe 3 for smaller games and 4 or 5 for larger games. 14
