first heard about earthing from my Naturopathic
Doctor in Santa Barbara back in 2011.
I was dealing with adrenal fatigue and
some other hormonal problems at the time
so he suggested I get an earthing mat or
spend an hour a day walking barefoot. I didn’t buy
one for two reasons: 1. I didn’t understand the
science behind how earthing works and 2. I tend to be
skeptical of theories associated with “energy” healing.
I rediscovered this concept about a year ago when I picked up
the book “Earthing” from a thrift store. I found the science be-hind
it is truly amazing and immediately regretted not investing in this
practice years ago. The concept of earthing is another example
of how perfectly our planet is designed to help us thrive in health.
How it works:
Disease of almost any kind stems from inflammation in the body
which can be attributed to an excess of free-radicals. Freeradicals are essentially unstable molecules that are missing an
electron. In order to stabilize themselves, they steal electrons
from other molecules in the body which starts a degeneration and
inflammatory process. Although a small amount of free-radicals
are necessary for health, we generally have way too many. They
come from stress, smoking, chemi-cals, pesticides, exercising too
much, electromagnetic frequen-cies and more.
Antioxydants on the other hand, work by either breaking down the
free-radicals or by donating an extra electron to stabilize the
molecule. This stops the degenerative chain reaction in the
body.
It’s common knowledge that antioxidants can be found in red
wine, berries, green tea, fruits and vegetables, but did you
