Joyce: During this time were there any other new
issues that you found yourself dealing with?
Dean: I discovered when I would go out with
friends and drink alcohol it would relieve my fears.
It started when a college friend invited me to play
chess and he would always win if I had enough
beer in me. I also noticed that if I drank and
consumed diary it had no negative effect on me,
but that was only during the same day.
Joyce: As time went on did other issues appear?

Dean: My symptoms pretty much remained
relatively the same just a little more severe until I
reached my late 20’s. I became very sick and was
diagnosed with mono. I was told the symptoms
would last about 30-60 days, but it took about 4
months for me to get back to full strength. At this
point I had been married for 6 or 7 years and we
just purchased a house out in the country and I
was ready to live out in the yard. Instead I ended
up seeing the inside walls of the new house for
several months because yard work and gardening
would quickly take a toll on me.

Dean: No
Joyce: Did you ever mention this issue to your
mom?
Dean: Yeah, she said the tingling was growing
pains.
Joyce: What about the retention issue?
Dean: No, I thought there was something wrong
with me mentally and I would be labeled as crazy.

Joyce: Did this issue continue after vocational
school?
Dean: Yes, Entering my twenties I began to notice
I was having a problem with communicating
especially one on one. My mind would seem to
drift and I had difficulty focusing on one area of the
conversation my thoughts would wander for no
apparent reason. I would get nervous and develop
an unexplained fear. It is actually hard to explain
what I was experiencing during these times this is
the best I can do.
