When Quintin McGee was a child , he looked up to his Grandfather . “ He was , and continues to be , a great role model in my life . He instilled in me what I consider to be many of my strongest virtues : discipline , honesty , integrity , and a strong work ethic . He always stressed the importance of education being a key to future success and that gave me the desire to become a strong student .” As the recently appointed Chief Prosecutor for Bladen County , a grandfather ’ s modeling helped create an individual who advocates for victims and delivers justice by way of trial by jury .
Spending his entire K-12 career in Iredell-Statesville Schools , Quintin remembers several teachers who held a special spot as challenger / mentor / advisor . “ Deborah Fox was my third grade teacher at East Elementary ,” he said . “ My love of school and learning honestly began as an 8-year-old boy in Mrs . Fox ’ s classroom . Doris Wilson and Christine Miller were my homeroom teachers in sixth grade and they had a big impact on me . Both had a nononsense , tough love approach to teaching and each had their own special way of loving each student . Coach Bost was my civics / history teacher as well as my football coach at Statesville High . He challenged me as a student and an athlete and in his own way , managed to get the most out of my talents in both arenas . Wanda McConnell , as my honors English teacher during my senior year , created a high standard of accountability for me , helping me prepare to become a successful college student . With Teddy Millsaps as my mentor , I considered being a principal and also a doctor , an athlete and yes , even a lawyer !”
All these fine educators must have done things right , as graduating from UNC- Chapel Hill in 2008 , led to a Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University in 2010 . The desire to become a prosecutor
Quintin McGee
has its roots , according to Quintin , “… when I was able to serve as an Assistant District Attorney , under the third-year practice rule which enabled me to try cases and function as a prosecutor ( under the supervision of a licensed prosecutor ) while still in law school .” Quintin also added , “ It also doesn ’ t hurt that I like to argue my point !”
“ The opportunities and experiences I had in college , coupled with my desire to help others , ultimately led me to becoming a lawyer ,” Quintin said . “ But I am continually inspired to see the growth in myself and others around me as we embark on our lives and the never-ending quest to be better citizens and to help shape a better world in which to live .”
A remarkable citizen of the world , Quintin McGee is indeed one of Iredell- Statesville Schools ’ Awesome Alumni .
