GARY DAVIS began playing guitar,
bass and keyboards at a young age.
He has performed professionally
since the late ‘70’s. Through the
years he has made his mark in such
bands as LAZY RAY, ANTICS, JOHN
WARRON BAND, TRIPLE FORTE,
MICHAEL TAYLOR TRIO, CHANGE OF
PACE, CASH ONLY, OUT ON BAIL,
BIG BAD BLUES MACHINE and
ROYAL PAIN.
Hurricane Ruth has performed at
several festivals: Champaign Blues,
Brews & BBQs (Champaign, IL),
Ain’t Nothin’ but the Blues
(Bloomington, IL), Rollin’ on the
River Blues Festival (Keokuk, IA),
Old Capitol Blues & BBQ
(Springfield, IL), Illinois Blues
Festival (Peoria, IL), Round Barn
Blues (Kirksville, MO), Hot August Blues Festival (Hardin, KY), Merchant Street Music Festival
(Kankakee, IL), Taste of Downtown (Springfield, IL) and Made In The Shade 2 (Saybrook, IL.). They
were a 2012 International Blues Challenge participant and King of Beale participant. They later
returned to Beale Street in 2012 to perform at the HARD ROCK CAFÉ.
Their CD “The Power of the Blues…Feels like a Hurricane” was released in February 2012, and was
nominated for the IBC “Best Self-Produced CD” in 2013. It also finished in the top 10 of Germany’s
WASSER-PRAWDA MAGAZINE’S “Reader’s Poll for Best Blues Rock CD” of 2012. The CD placed
11th on WEFT’s (Champaign, IL) “Top 50 Blues CDs” for 2012 (ranked by number of spins). You can
pick up their latest CD "Born on the River" in mid-September 2014. Hurricane Ruth will blow you
