The Fairy Rock Mother Presents Music by AMERICAN ZER0S “Something” By Kiki Plesha With a festive fluttering of my wings, I am radically stoked to introduce to the readers of ION Indie Magazine—AMERICAN ZER0S! American Zer0s are blasting out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with their own flavorful fusion of Rock/Punk/Metal/Funk. They are considered the feisty mutts of the All-American pound--in other words--your blue collar, bare bones “make-the-most-of-what you-got” melting-pot variety of ROCK! This trio “brings it” with some catchy, well thought-out, riff-oriented tunes. According to band founder CITI ZENX, "I don't know what to call us--they say ‘blue collar’--I guess I'm cool with that. I'd just say ROCK.” Comprised of songwriter/singer and “guttural” guitarist Citi Zenx, hard-hitting drummer B-BoZ, and funky bassist K-Doob, this group is set to record their next album at CHERRY PIT STUDIOS with producer ERIC LABROSSE—who has worked with American Zer0s from the beginning—“The Red White Black & Blue”--featuring their new song, “Capital”. I am listening to “Capital” through my headphones as I write this narrative. It has a wonderful “retro” feel with an almost 60’s vibe present in the distorted guitar riffs. It is infectious and yes, I would agree with the terminology “catchy”. Citi Zenx’s “sing/speak” lends a unique layer to the music, and it works in this case. The songs are memorable and unique. I can recognize an American Zer0s tune within the first few licks…a testament to their originality. Do not be fooled by the name--this band and their music is not your flag-waving, hot dog-and-apple pie toting, hand-over-your-heart patriot spittle. It is soulful “cry to arms” for change and revolution from mongrels with a message to impart. I, of course, asked the obligatory query regarding their inspirational roots…
