Story and Photography by Timothy Schumann I marked this date down on the calendar two months ago, because I knew that El Paso would really turn out for this show and they didn't let me down for CANNIBAL CORPSE on the 23rd of October at the one and only TRICKY FALLS. This town has a huge Metal following and I shoot a lot of so- called Metal bands that are national acts--but when you get the real deal as in Cannibal Corpse, you get a crowd that is on the cusp of insanity-not to mention a constant "Circle Pit" full of rabid fans! The set list contained songs like "Skull Full of Maggots", "I Cum Blood", "Devoured by Vermin"--and my personal favorite, "Fucked with a Knife". With song titles of this nature, you know you're in for one hell of a night! Tricky Falls is a two level venue, and with the balcony for this event being closed, 800 people packed the bottom floor…and needless to say, good times were had by all. In closing and on a personal note, I did have the opportunity to meet GEORGE FISHER before the show and even though he fronts one of the most brutal Metal bands on the face of the earth, you couldn't have asked for a nicer gentleman--he's married and a family man. He took the time to take photos and sign autographs. He doesn't have that “Rock Star” ego--which I do come across from time to time in this business. It was my sheer pleasure to cover this show for ION. If you get the chance to meet George and take in his show, I know we'll be in agreement.
