Invenio: Coaching and Mentoring September 2016 IIC&M | Page 3

Our Publication A New Journey Begins There is perhaps a sense of irony that this publication represents a new journey. As you will see from the various articles within this month’s edition, journeys often come with bumps in the road, obstacles and roadblocks. Sometimes we are all forced to take the road less travelled (apologies to Robert Frost). The point is that we do take the road and continue on our journey. Such is the story of this publication. Due to a possible area of confusion with another organisation, we were asked to change the name. Rather than get tangled up in all sorts of Trade Mark legislation, the editorial team took the very brave and proactive step to rename our publication. This ensures that there will be no breaks in publications and we can strive forwards and continue to spread the message about the benefits of coaching and mentoring. Introducing ‘Invenio’ Invenio is derived from the Latin word Invenire. Its literal translation means to come upon, to find, discover, to reach or manage to get. Are these not some of the most important aspects of coaching and mentoring? I am often reminded that ‘everything happens for a reason’. It is not what happens to us but how we deal with what happens to us. I am very honoured to work with a team that has allowed us to continue on our journey, with what I believe to be a fantastic new name. May I welcome you all to read this edition of Invenio and the many more to come. Kind regards, David David Monro-Jones AFC ASM IIC&M Managing Director [email protected]
