Invenio: Coaching and Mentoring April 2016 - Growth | Page 3

EDITOR'S

NOTE

This month's edition of Insight, brought to you by the IIC&M, focuses on growth. And to me, coaching and mentoring is all about just that: growth!

Coaches and mentors help their clients grow, they may help teams grow and they may even help businesses grow, depending on their niche of choice. As professionals we support our clients in their development, and we are privileged and fortunate enough to witness their growth.

But in addition to this, I believe that coaches and mentors grow from these relationship too, both professionally and personally. Of course we engage in continuous professional development, which absolutely contributes to our professional growth. But personally, I think that I have learned even more from reflecting on my work, and acknowledging how my work has helped me to expand my knowledge, to deepen my experience and to broaden my horizon.

Oprah once said "If you want to accomplish the goals of your life, you have to begin with the spirit". Of course, she means that growth is a mindset more then anything else, and I believe that's very true. If you set your mind to it, you can grow through almost all your professional and personal (inter)actions.

I hope this month's magazine will help you all grow a bit more, professionally and/or personally, if only by inspiring your mindset. Enjoy reading!
