from the garden, and to build a geodesic dome where people can come for music, yoga, community sharing, workshops, to help and play in the gardens, to connect with people of all ages in a magical nature space. At this stage of the journey our dreams are small and practical, building the yurt platform and raising the yurt, building a compost loo and installing a gas shower, preparing an area for the first planting on the land. Alongside these practical goals we are learning to better speak the language, finding spaces here to play music and yoga, and getting to know the community here. In the Spring next year Maya is organising a Yoga retreat in the town of Lanjaron, offering her understanding and practise of Elemental Hatha Yoga to others who are interested. For many years Maya has been attending retreats with other teachers, sometimes in a supporting role or offering massage to participants. These experiences have given Maya the confidence to offer her own retreat experiences to others. Offering the opportunity through held space for others to deepen into Yoga and nature, to develop daily rituals, to nurture and listen to the innate wisdom of the body. Maya has been studying and practising the art of bodywork from embryo to elderly, integrating therapy and yoga in one to one sessions that can be booked in the Alpujarras. She also works with therapy practitioners through the ‘Art of Touch’ trainings, bringing fresh inspiration to their work. She is currently studying Elemental yoga therapy with the Swara Yoga School. This particular school of Yoga is rooted in a deep understanding of the ancient Five Elements systems from Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine among others. It is our intention to support people to take healing, and their lives as a whole, into their own hands, to live in a way that is empowering, and to encourage everyone we meet to share their talents and lessons. We are seeking to connect with others who share our enthusiasm for life and living, yogis, musicians, sustainable builders, people interested in climate change and mountain waters, martial artists, people with friendly faces and bright minds to share with. We’d love to find a local indoor venue suitable for yoga, dance, and music. Here we can share open mic cabaret events for people to explore their talents, from performance to bringing home cooked recipes to share, poetry, song and more.
