At Le Jardin de Cabrerets you
can relax in their beautiful
garden at the waters-edge,
surrounded by the natural
limestone cliffs of the stunning
river valley. It is situated in the
village of Cabrerets which is
itself a quaint medieval village
featuring ancient chateaux
and semi-troglodite houses
where there is an array of
outdoor pursuits, you can hire
kayaks and kayak through the
stunning peaceful valley (photo
attached), or you can partake
in adventure activities at the
local activity-center where you
can arrange rock-climbing,
caving, canyoning, ‘accrobranch’ (adventure course
in the cliffs and trees) and
mountain-biking. There is also a
horse-riding centre in the village
where you can take a series
of beautiful treks. Otherwise,
you can take peaceful walks in
the natural surroundings, there
is some beautiful countryside
as the village is situated in a
natural park (‘Le Parc Naturel
Causses du Quercy’) which
hosts hundreds of walking
and cycling tracks among
abundant flora and fauna.
The village is also home to the
famous ‘Grottes du Pech Merle’
which is a cave system that
has been discovered to house
a series of 25,000-year old
cave-paintings in addition to
other vestiges from the ‘caveman’ era as well as many
beautiful geological features,
the remarkableness of these
popular caves has recently
led to this site, alongside the
also popular medieval village
of St Cirq Lapopie, being
designated as a ‘Grand Site du
Midi-Pyrenees’. The wider area
continues to be a stunning and
traditional part of France, the
village is in between the larger
medieval towns of Cahors
and Figeac, and the area is
popularly chosen as a detour
by walkers on the Santiago de
Compostella pilgrimage route
as it is well-known for its natural
beauty and stunning scenery.
Cabrerets is close-by to the
village of St Cirq Lapopie which
has been officially designated
one of the most beautiful
villages in France, it is a
picturesque village perched on
a cliff, high above the River Lot,
offering stunning views from the
ruined 13th century chateau at
the top .
If you choose to holiday at Le
Jardin de Cabrerets you will
also be helping to support the
Le Jardin de Cabrerets charity
which raises money every year
from restaurant sales to donate
to local animal rescue charities
in the area. L’Association de
Le Jardin de Cabrerets has
donated to La Ferme des
rescapés in the Lot where one
lady single-handedly runs a
refuge for all types of animals
in need, her amazing cause
provides salvation to hundreds
of animals, and Chats du
Quercy
who
provide
a
desperately needed refuge for
cats in the Lot and has helped to
re-home thousands of cats and
kittens since their organisation
began, and you will, of course,
be helping Louise and James
to continue bringing muchneeded exposure of exciting
vegan and vegetarian cuisine
to France!
