“Woodchipping quality and
low fines content are the most
important parameters for ligneous
biomass,” according to equipment
supplier, Jenz. For this reason,
the company has now developed
the new H1 drum for very coarse
woodchippings with low fines
content.
The new HEM 821 Z power
takeoff shaft chipper was one of
the first machines fitted with the
new drum by French importer
Noremat.
Christophe Mazoyer, product
manager for Jenz dealer, Noremat,
presented the machine during
the Salon Bois Energie specialist
trade fair in Nancy, France, and was
extremely satisfied.
“A super machine, which
doesn’t just stand out thanks
to innovative solutions in the
drivetrain, but also because
of the considerably-improved
woodchipping quality,” he said.
These results were also
confirmed by FIBOIS Ardèche
Drôme, a consortium of companies
working in the timber industry in
the Ardèche and Drôme regions.
In an independent trial, FIBOIS
investigated the woodchipping
quality from the various exhibitors
during the trade fair. The results

were reportedly excellent. The
woodchipping quality was obvious.
The development of the new
chipper drum with the catchy name
of H1 played a particularly large
role in improving the woodchipping
quality.
“Two decisive specifications
are hidden in this name,” said

Partner of Jenz. “The H stands for
helical drum and the 1 stands for
single cut.”
The new drum has been
implemented as a single-cut drum,
which enables optimised outflow of
the woodchippings after being cut.
Removable wedges ensure simple
and rapid conversion from 20-30
mm pre-grip, which is extremely
important for the production
of coarse woodchippings, and
also means that the particle size
distribution required by smaller
plants does not present any
problems.
