LUMBER PROCESSING A t Ligna 2017, German sawmill supplier, Linck, will present many new detailed solutions for increasing the sawline efficiency. The first machine combination is a recut chipper canter with separate outfeed system, VZO. This outfeed system is equipped with vertical and horizontal roller pairs for reliable and continuous feeding of the cants. Precise, servo- hydraulic positioning of the roller pairs allows active curve sawing of the two-sided cants. The complementary Linck 6-curve scanner allows the accurate scanning of the cant curvature. An essential feature of this scanner is that movement of the cant during scanning does not have an adverse effect on the scanning result. Therefore, scanning can also take place in case the cant is moved, for example, by centering rollers. The result is a considerable reduction of the overall length of a sawline, which makes it possible to integrate this scanner in existing sawlines. SCANNING & OPTIMISATION – LINCK Linck to deliver efficiency at home show Linck will be showing off various components of its world-class sawlines β€œOn our stand we also show live the effect of energy recovery using a cant turner as example,” Linck told International Forest Industries. The high piece count and the high speed necessary for turning a two or four-sided cant first requires high acceleration of the cant turner rotor. The energy released by the subsequently strong braking of the rotor is not converted into heat but into electrical energy, which is then fed back into the power network. Furthermore, Linck will showcase a roller conveyor designed for up to 200 m/minute line speed. With such high speeds, conventional roller drives present a high noise level and suffer from heavy wear. Both factors are considerably reduced by replacing the chain with a belt. See us at Ligna Hall 25, Stand F25 International Forest Industries | APRIL / MAY 2017 33
