There is something for everyone here, including three attractions specifically for older children - The Darkness, Twisted Fun House and Terror Trail - and lots for the very little ones too, including Boo Barn and the Horrid Hayride to name just two. As well as all that, there will be activities and games taking place in the Pumpkin Patch itself. This year’s theme is ‘the circus’, and it’s sure to be a scare-tastic event. The Circus of Thrills will be hosted by Duncan James of boyband, Blue, fame, and there will be performances from many different West End stars. Not only will you be utterly entertained, but you will also be able to enjoy a sumptuous three-course meal. So, if you’re looking for something sexy and scary this Halloween, the Halloween Horror Show at The Grand Hotel, Brighton, could be exactly what you need. Tickets start at £95 (plus booking fee). Parham’s Halloween Trail 28-30 Oct www.parhaminsussex.co.uk Complete the Parham Pumpkin Puzzle around the gardens and grab the chance to meet and hold real life owls with ‘Owls About Town’. Founded to educate and inform children and adults about owls, most of the birds are rescued owls and visitors will be able to learn more about these fascinating animals. For those children brave enough, they will have a chance to find the witch in her house (and her magic treat cauldron), and there will also be craft activities and face painting. Or, why not carve your pumpkin at the farm where you’ll find plenty of inspiration! There will be ‘real’ witches wandering around the farm – see how many you can spot! They’re all friendly and ever so funny; just make sure you don’t get turned into a frog. Returning for its second year, and located at Brighton Racecourse, Fright Festival is back – and with a brand new look! Once the spooky stories have been told, it’s time to have some more fun by building dens (to hide from the woodland monsters), foraging (for ingredients for a magic potion), whittling a wand, and creating a clay monster amongst other things. Halloween Dinner Dance 29 Oct www.eastsussexnational.co.uk At the luxurious East Sussex National Hotel, you can join the spirits-in-residence for a three-course dinner followed by dancing – all with a spooky Halloween theme. Ghost Tour of Rye 29 Oct www.ryeheritage.co.uk This unique walking tour of ancient Rye will show you sites of hauntings, ghost visitations, paranormal activity and other weird goings on. Can you make it all the way through? It lasts for one hour 45 minutes, and there are plenty of opportunities to commune with the spirits.
