Sussex produce flying the
flag for animal welfare
The topic of animal welfare is a tricky one: dip your toe into a conversation about factory
farming or hunting and you could end up in muddy waters. One way that we can all
calmly put our money where our mouths are, however, and rest assured that at least we, as
individuals and families, are doing the right thing by the animals that provide food for us
is by buying high-welfare produce from responsible providers. Fortunately for us, Sussex
is a county packed full of food producers and farm shops committed to both high quality
standards and sustainability, so we’ve rounded up this handful of picks from a very big bunch.
Crossbush Farm, Littlehampton
Crossbush Farm is an independent, family-run shop, butchery and mini farm whose goal has always been to have a highwelfare farm shop with a lovely café where customers can sit, relax, and mingle with the farm’s many rescued animals
