HORLEY CARE HOME BUILDS BRAND NEW SUITE FOR PEOPLE
WITH EARLY ONSET DEMENTIA
Smallbrook Care Home cares passionately for individuals with dementia
and the recently opened Upfield Suite is designed for early onset
dementia specifically; to care for younger people who wish to live within a
self-contained, supportive and caring environment.
The original building was built in 1988 by the MS Society, and in 2011 the
property was sold. A couple of years later, Asprey commenced extensive
alterations creating 27 new spacious ensuites, and, most recently, a
carefully matched extension to provide dementia care for younger people
was constructed. Named the Upfield Suite, it comprises a further 14 ensuite bedrooms and has been designed as something quite special with
residents in mind.
The Upfield Suite offers brand new, spacious and stylishly decorated ensuite bedrooms, with telephone extensions, televisions, 24-hour call bell,
and a full laundry service. Residents can enjoy new lounges and a dining
area, as well as library and computer facilities, wonderfully large gardens
and a suntrap terrace and BBQ area.
Set in over an acre of grounds, Smallbrook Care Home is conveniently
located down a quiet residential cul-de-sac in the town of Horley, within
close proximity to local amenities. Smallbrook’s passion is centred upon
delivering the very best standard of care for those entrusted to them.
Maintaining high standards is hard work and a constant challenge, but
staff are dedicated, and many are complimented for their outstanding care.
The staff know that keeping active, maintaining independence and getting
involved is important for early onset dementia sufferers, and the chef delivers
delicious and nutritious home-cooked meals to ensure healthy eating.
If your loved one is in the early stages of dementia and you would like

manager, Diane Trill on 01293 772 576.
SUSSEX STUDENT TO PUT ON FASHION SHOW
AT HILTON BRIGHTON METROPOLE
A young student from Northbrook College, Worthing, is helping fundraise
for local charity, the Starr Trust by putting on a showcase of talent on
Sunday 22nd May at Brighton’s Hilton Metropole hotel.
20-year-old student, Harleigh Slaughter, from Brighton, and around 80
of her peers studying fashion and textiles, or make-up and hair, will be
showcasing their work and creating a new look for their catwalk models
in this fabulous fashion competition. The students will compete against
one another to impress the judges who will include Robin Cousins MBE;
Julian Caddy, director of Brighton Fringe; hair designer, Simon Webster;
and Juice FM’s Guy Lloyd as compere.
Harleigh said: “I wanted to raise money for the Starr Trust, who are all
about helping kids achieve their potential. I thought a show like this,
giving talented students the platform they need to showcase their skills,
would be perfect. It was meant to start quite small with a handful of
Northbrook students, but we now have others participating from places
like DV8 Sussex and the London School of Fashion. It’s been a lot of hard
work, but a great experience and we’re really grateful to Northbrook and
the Hilton Brighton for sponsoring our event.”
With an estimated 200 guests attending, as well as industry experts, the
Starr Trust is also offering young designers of fashion, jewellery, or textiles
the chance to showcase their products in return for just 10 percent
of any sales on the day. All monies raised will go towards supporting
young people living in the BN postcode area. Tickets £7, or £15 VIP.
Any young designers wanting to sell their products at this event should
contact [email protected], or to purchase tickets for the event email
