GETAWAYS
I believe in service,
you should too!
BY MELISSA JONES
Renowned for its wealth of eccentric shopping areas, diverse communities, creative arts and music
scene and above all its pebbly beach, it is no surprise that the city of Brighton has been voted the
happiest place to live in the UK. Visitors travel in their numbers every year to be beside the seaside
and experience what the city has to offer. It is no wonder then that there is a plethora of hotels and
city accommodation to choose from, but how do you make that all important choice?
The ibis in Brighton had queues to the door of
people and their assorted luggage, always a
good first impression. On entering, guests are
instantly welcomed to the main reception area
which presents minimalist European décor.
Stylishly projected onto the wall behind the
reception desk is a variety of need-to-know
facts including currency exchange rates, live
room availability and costs as well as top tips
on how to enjoy your time in the seaside city.
ibis is leading the way in hotel quality with
an ISO 9001 certified guarantee of quality
and an assured ‘15 minute satisfaction’
policy, meaning that all staff strive to resolve
your queries within 15 minutes. This daily
challenge was achieved by all staff at the
Brighton accommodation who were all friendly,
approachable and incredibly attentive.
This quality and attention to detail is evident
as you move through the hotel, from the
safety device room keys that operate the lifts
to the individual large-scale chalk images in
the bedrooms. The rooms themselves are
comfortable and well equipped boasting
new innovative bedding designed by the ibis
Research Department. The same minimalist
European interior continues into the bedrooms
with modern benched seating areas and
stacked storage space. The lights of the
Brighton wheel and the quirky North Laine are
framed through the window with a breathtaking
view of the sea beyond.
Situated a stone’s throw from Brighton’s
mainline train station, with direct links to
London, the ibis is the ideal getaway for
travellers, businesspeople and families alike.
Offering 140 rooms, the hotel even permits
pets for a small fee—a definite stand out from
any other city stay, so you don’t ever have to
leave a ‘man’ behind.
The newly designed bar and restaurant,
Fogg’s, takes inspiration from its namesake
Phileas Fogg and serves dishes from all
corners of the world including classic thin
crust pizzas, spicy jalapeño nachos and their
signature dish ‘Taco the high road’, whilst the
bar supports local breweries by stocking local
beers monthly along with celebrated vodka and
gin from the Blackdown distillery. Staying in has
never been so easy.
Alternatively, in just a short walk you can be in
the thick of Brighton working your way around
the many shops, delving into the maze of
the infamous Laines discovering unique bars
and eateries, or battling with a seagull over a
portion of fish and chips on the beach.
The buzz of the city is brought to life inside
the hotel where local touches allow guests

to experience the unique vibe of the city. The
hotel showcases artwork from local artists that
captures the essence and individuality of the
seaside city.
After a refreshing and relaxing night’s sleep
on the new ‘Sweet bed by ibis’ you can tuck
into an as-much-as-you-can-eat hot and
continental buffet breakfast. The offerings
consist of all you need to create the ideal full
English as well as pastries, cooked meats and
yoghurt for a lighter option. For the extremely
early risers, the continental breakfast is served
from 4am, with the addition of the hot option
between 6.30am and 10am (12 noon on
weekends) ensuring that every hotel-goer gets
their fuel at the start of the day.
So if you’re looking to get a snapshot of what
it feels like to reside in the happiest place to
live in the UK, there is no perfect way to do it
than from the comfort of the ibis in Brighton
city centre.
