food+drink Top Summer Drinks from Sussex With so much great produce growing in Sussex, and so much innovation within our community, it’s little wonder that a wealth of exciting drinks’ producers have sprung up over the last few years, allowing us new taste experiences and to try flavours we might never have considered before. From juice to pop to beer, wine, and spirits, Sussex has it all, and here are some of our favourites to enjoy this summer. Gran Stead’s Ginger Co // www.gransteadsginger.co.uk From humble beginnings over 20 years ago, Gran Stead’s Ginger Co has grown rapidly, and now offers its non-alcoholic ginger beer drinks across the county and beyond. The original recipe dates back 150 years, and is all down to a woman named Christina Stead (known as Granny), who came up with a delicious drink that is still made today: Mellow Ginger. But there’s more than that in the range now, and varieties include Fiery Ginger, Still Lemonade, Lemonade with Zing, and Blackcurrant with Zing. Wobblegate // www.wobblegate.co.uk This family-run business was established in 2009, and has gone on to perform brilliantly. Bottling only the best Sussex fruit from their stunning farm in the middle of the South Downs, there are no added sugars or preservatives to be found here; it’s all natural, all good.
