Open most Fridays throughout the year (although many would love for these opening hours to be extended), from 11am until 3pm, this is the first Brighton-based market to be dedicated to street food traders. Some are local, some from slightly further afield, some just starting out, some firmly established, but all have one thing in common: they offer up delicious, fresh, and different food that is cooked to order using quality ingredients. The difference is discernible straight away, and the customers return again and again – they just can’t get enough of this tasty Friday treat. The market is situated between streets in BN1 and BN3, and the food ranges from best of British to exotic flavours that can’t be found anywhere else, or at least not within walking distance of homes and work places on a Friday lunchtime. Food includes gourmet burgers, paella, burritos, meze, vegetarian stir fries, pulled pork, and much, much more. If you have a hankering for a certain type of food, Brighton’s Street Diner is sure to deliver it. And it’s not just food that gives this exceptional food market its exciting buzz – there is often live music too, and the social side of the market is fantastic. This is where locals come to eat, to mingle, and to relax before the last leg before the weekend really starts. The vendors love Street Diner as much as the customers do. Whereas it could cost many thousands of pounds to set up and maintain a successful street food business, Kate and Christina, the entrepreneurs who have started Street Diner charge just a fraction of that for vendors to promote their products and gorgeous looking, smelling, and tasting food.
