The Real Pie Company // Crawley
The Real Pie Company was set up by a family of artisan butchers 13
years ago, and still hold true to their ‘freshly baked’ principles. All their
pies are baked in small batches under the watchful eyes of their own
chefs, and wherever possible, they use locally sourced produce. The
Real Pie Company’s ‘crammed to the crust’ pies come in varieties such
as steak and stilton; pork, bacon and parsley; or sweet versions such as
apple and blackberry, or apple and cherry.

In 1922, Fred Payne began what was to become a successful and
renowned beekeeping and honey making business located in Sussex.
Back then Fred only had a handful of hives, but today, Payne’s Bee
Farm – which is still family run and owned – has grown, and can offer
a lot more, all at the same great quality as ever. And it’s not just honey
(although this honey is spectacular); Payne’s also produce jams,
chutneys, pickles, and marmalades, and they sell beekeeping

In 2008 John Bartlett was making Sussex produce as a hobby. Now it is
a family business that is growing by the month. Everything is still made
at home in his kitchen, however, in small batches to keep the flavours
distinct and the quality in tact. The ingredients for his food come from
a variety of sources, and they are all local. These sources even include
John’s own garden! As well as farmers’ markets, Bartie’s Sussex Faire
can be found in a number of cafés, hotels, and pubs in the county,
offering products such as chilli sauces, savoury jellies, chutneys, jams,
mustards, relishes, and spreads.
