JAPAN COMES TO MAIDSTONE

JAPAN COMES TO MAIDSTONE THIS SPRING , WITH MAIDSTONE MUSEUM HOSTING A SELECTION OF EXHIBITIONS AND EVENTS INSPIRED BY THE LAND OF THE RISING SUN .
From 1st April until 10th June , the temporary exhibitions gallery will be host to a captivating exhibition entitled Japan : A Floating World in Print . Featuring over 60 ukiyo-e prints from the 18th to the 20th century , works by acclaimed masters of the revered Japanese woodblock technique recreate life in traditional Japan . Discover dramatic landscapes from Hokusai and Hiroshige , marvel at delicate Bijinga prints of beautiful women , and wonder at the unique style of Ogata Gekko .
To complement the exhibition , a selection of workshops and activities will also be held to provide a flavour of the East , with a Japanese style flower arranging workshop on 28th April , and Manga art lessons for both adults and children demonstrating the iconic graphic style on 13th May . There is even a Museum Lates event being held on 25th May in conjunction with Wagamama , providing tastings of foods , beers and juices from Japan .
