The Daily Express calls it "the World Famous Bonfire Party!" The town’s inns, restaurants and shops will be in party mood all day and ready to serve the influx of visitors. Roads in and out of the town will be closed at 6pm and the party itself begins at 6.30pm when a torchlit procession of around 500 people tour through the whole town. Everyone then makes their way to the local Recreation Ground where a fairground rides, stalls, a mobile stage and DJ keeps everyone amused during Kent's oldest and best traditional fireworks display. During the show, two huge 10m tall effigies (Guy Fawkes himself and the somewhat more recent 20year tradition of the 'Celebrity Guy') are demolished by a mixture of gunpowder and flames. From 6pm.
