by GB’s achievements in Rio. We’re
also organising a sponsored walk on
Sunday 9th October to mark our 25th
Anniversary. Walk 25 takes walkers
through 25km of beautiful Kent
farmland, orchards and meadows.
And, for the first time, we’re asking
supporters to join in our new fundraising
initiative by hosting a Hearty Breakfast
for their friends and colleagues in aid of
the Hospice’s work. We’re running our
Hearty Breakfast between Saturday 8th
and 15th October.
Supporters can find out how to
make a donation or the details of our
fundraising events by looking at our
website www.hokh.org or by calling
01622 790195.
As well as our 25th Anniversary
falling in October, so too does Hospice
Care Week. In celebration we will be
opening our doors to the public so they
can find out more about what we do,
both here at the Hospice itself but also
in the community. Hospice Tours take
place on the 3rd, 5th and 6th October
and, because of the nature of what we
do, we kindly ask people to book in
advance by emailing Annie Bubb on
[email protected] or calling
01622 792200 ext 206 to reserve
a place.
What about volunteers? How
important are they to the HOKH, and
what sort of things do they do?
Volunteers are the lifeblood of the
Hospice and we are extremely grateful
for the time they give us. We certainly
wouldn’t be able to offer the range of
services we do or raise the funds that
we need without them.
This year we set a target to find
225 new volunteers, across 30 different
roles. They range from offering
complementary therapies or creative
workshops to our visiting day patients,
to tending to our Hospice garden or
working in our cafés, and from helping
with our fundraising activities and events,
to running our charity shops.
