The Universal Contour Wrap by Dreams Spa at Eastwell Manor
Intrigued by promises of instant inch loss ( backed by a money-back guarantee ) but just a little skeptical , insideKENT sent Samantha Ready to Dreams Spa at Eastwell Manor to find out just what all the fuss the is about . BY SAMANTHA READY
And this is how I came to be standing in a pair of paper pants and a towel wondering just what I had let myself in for – albeit in one of the lovely tranquil therapy rooms at Dreams Spa with my even lovelier therapist , Kirsty .
Kirsty began by explaining how the Universal Contour Wrap works . First of all , measurements are taken at key points of the body – all the way from your chin to your ankles – with temporary marks made to ensure that measurements are retaken in exactly the same place at the end of the treatment . Next , bandages which have been soaked in a specially developed hot clay solution are applied from head to toe , in order to draw out impurities and toxins , before a vinyl suit is worn and you lay back for an hour to let the wrap work its magic … easy ?
Well ... Kirsty summed up all things about this treatment in one handy beauty line : “ treatments are either for relaxation or results , the ones that give the best results aren ’ t usually the most relaxing ...” and so began the bandaging !
Starting from heel to thigh the hot ( but not unbearable I hasten to add ) bandages are wound as tightly as possible around each leg , overlapping to ensure that they not just stay in place but that the best results can be achieved . Kirsty then moved up around the buttocks , hips and abdomen before providing an impressive instant bust lift with some clever wrapping techniques , before working along the arms and right up around the head and chin ( although you can opt to leave the chin unwrapped depending on the areas in which you are looking for results ).
Next came the vinyl suit which despite its size proved more tricky to put on once bound like a mummy in wet bandages – but never fear ; the therapists are obviously a dab hand in this and before I knew it the two-piece suit was in place and I was being led to the cosy cocoon of warm therapy bed and towels to relax in dimmed lights for an hour . At this point of the treatment you can also opt to treat yourself to a mini treatment too ( ooh extra pampering !) with options such as eyelash tints , mini facials and foot massages . And then you wait and you sweat !
It ’ s surprising just how quickly an hour away from daily life can pass and it wasn ’ t long before the gentle knock on the door stirred me as Kirsty announced it was time to get those bandages off !
And boy they come off a lot faster than they go on . Within a few minutes all that was left was those slightly clay soaked paper pants , a warm towel and a lot of apprehensive excitement whilst Kirsty carefully remeasured at the same points .
She explained that every person is different and would see results in different areas , but that most people see results across the body with an average of 6-9 inches off in the first session .
Left to get dressed – but leaving the clay residue behind – the concept is to leave it in place for a day , and then two days of tepid showers followed by a couple of really nice hot ones to draw out toxins and impurities and aid that drainage ( another unexpected bonus was that this really helped my dry skin over the next few days !). Kirsty meanwhile worked out my results …
And they were impressive ! A total loss of 7.1 inches across all areas with biggest losses on my waist , abdomen , hips and buttocks – hurrah ! Results are usually guaranteed for 30 days as long as you eat and drink sensibly but even better results occur after a course of treatments .
Absolutely thrilled and with an impending wedding I wasted no time in booking in a further two treatments over the following two weeks , and I was stunned and delighted to achieve a loss of over 20 inches and 6lbs in weight with the most noticeable being a 2.5-inch loss from my waist which was a whole dress size smaller !
