Ryan Castone of Hales & Moore, Rainham We have been trading in Rainham since 1984, starting out as local fishermen and freemen of the River Medway (see Rochester Oyster and Floating fishery or ROFF for more information). Our fishing background, mainly for eels, brown shrimps and Dover soles, led us into fishmongery and after 32 years we are among the most respected fishmongers in the South East, with customers travelling from as far as Brighton to shop with us! Here at Hales & Moore we strive to provide the highest quality fish at the most affordable price to our customers. Throughout the year we have a selection of local fish available, mostly from the LR38 vessel the Linda Louise. These can range from Dover soles in the summer to beautiful codling in the winter (weather depending). We have recently spent time working alongside Kent and Essex Inshore Conservation Agency (KEIFCA) to help create and maintain a conservation area along the north shore of the river Medway which will be the largest of its kind in the country (you can find more information on this on www.kentandessex-ifca.gov.uk). “At Hales and Moore it isn't solely about the fish, it’s about your general experience. As soon as you step through the door you will be greeted with a smile and a good morning. We aim for a high level of customer service, be that preparing your fish in any way you would like, to giving you 51 tips on the best way to cook it. Every customer we serve is treated like a weekly regular. I think that’s what a lot of big stores lack today.” - Shane Hales, Co-owner.
