Every year , award-winning hairdresser Jerome Hillion produces a unique collection for his clients to view based on what ' s happening fashion-wise and what trends Jerome is setting .
This year he was inspired by two collections in particular which are changing the fashion industry . The first inspiration comes from the Spring / Summer 2016 Gucci campaign by Alessandro Michelle , the creative director .
He shot at public spaces in Berlin and gave a 1970 ’ s nerd-chic vibe ; this is why Jerome followed in Alessandro ’ s footsteps and produced quite sharp purdy like haircuts , seeing quite a few in the capital .
He then mixed the styles with warm , intense tones inspired by Marc Jacobs ’ A / W campaign . The strong gothic influence was toned down to make it more commercial so everyone could relate to it .
For this year ’ s collection , Jerome wanted to involve local creatives he met at his salon and they have truly delivered . Why go to London when we have the talent in Kent ? Jerome said : “ I would rather spend money locally and use local talent , like photographer Jo Bridges who runs the darkroom project at the resort studios in Cliftonville .” All images were shot at the Pettman building in Cliftonville .
The make-up artist used on the shoot was local Gemma Meakings who specialises in bridal make-up . She really pushed the boundaries on the gothic / commercial make-up to enhance the photos .
The only ‘ outsider ’ on the team was the clothes stylist Amy Still from London who created an up-to-date but classic look . Jerome has worked with Amy previously on a few catwalks and knew she would deliver as she styles many celebrities and fashion week catwalk models .
Jerome was also proud to include hard-working Ashley Smith who just qualified as a hairdresser , and was there on the day helping the team .
Jerome has won the title of British Avant Garde Hairdresser of the Year at the prestigious British hairdressing awards in 2005 and is now based at the Walpole Bay Hotel in Margate .
