insideKENT Magazine Issue 51 - June 2016 | Page 8

welcome The Garden of England is known for many things – its glorious countryside, its trendy coastal towns, and now more than ever, its culinary delights; and as you may have noticed from our cover, this issue is all about that last wonderful Kentish trademark: food, glorious food. I’ve been involved with insideKENT since its inception almost six years ago, and I remember thinking back then: I wonder how long it will be before we run out of ideas for the food section? That would be, never. I’m embarrassed to say I was ever worried at all. Over the last half decade, I’ve watched Kent grow in size and stature when it comes to food, and I’m proud to say our little corner of England now offers, in my humble opinion, the most enviable smorgasbord of food and drink producers, restaurants, culinary courses and products in the country. Start your food adventure on p38, where you’ll find over 40 pages of tasty treats, from the ultimate Kent pub crawl (p42), to the best seaside dining (p49), to surprising superfoods (p72). Though food might be my favourite subject this month, if it’s not your cup of tea (or cup of soup), there’s plenty more to check out in this issue. Summer is trying its hardest to get here on time, so head over to p81 for some gorgeous dress/sandal combos in our fashion pages, or plan some weekend dates outside with Visit Kent’s top pick of sunny-day activities in Kent (p108). I’d love to hear about what you’re up to this month – whether it’s enjoying one of Kent’s top restaurants, spending time at home or exploring one of our county’s many attractions, get in touch on Facebook or Twitter @insideKENT. Ok then, I’m off to eat… Donna www.insidekentmagazine.co.uk @insidekent /insidekent /insidekent insidekentmagazine Creative & Editorial Director Donna Martin Sales & Publishing Director Adam Ready Features & Online Editor Lisamarie Lamb Senior Designer Dave Leo Yogore Graphic Designer Laurence Whymark Fashion Editor Molly Neznanski Gil Senior Account Manager Greg Bettles Account Managers Alex Perseval / Andy Hortin / Lisa Gower Operations Manager Sam Gottshalk Contributors Polly Humphris / Visit Kent / Samantha G / Luke Yates / Katie Phillips / Explore Kent / Paul Nixon Photography Luke Yates insideKENT Magazine is published by Sideways Media Ltd The Workshop | 32-40 Tontine Street | Folkestone | CT20 1JU [email protected] | www.sidewaysmedia.co.uk For general enquiries, please contact 01303 766111 @hellosideways /hellosideways When you have finished with this magazine, please pass it on to a friend or recycle it.
