Brought up to date to World War II Britain, it begins with the chance meeting of American GI Bob Johnson (John Sweet), British soldier Peter Gibbs (Dennis Price) and land girl Alison Smith (Sheila Sim). All three find themselves on the train to Chillingbourne (a fictional village, although it is said that the village of Chilham was the inspiration for it, and certainly portions of the movie were filmed there), but things take a turn for the strange when, after disembarking, Alison is attacked by the Glue Man. The three decide to stay in the area in order to do some sleuthing. David Lean Y\Y
