The Michael and Vibeke Herbert Music School
Music plays a vital part in life at Junior King’s. Each day brings many musical experiences for the children to enjoy
from the boarders’ early morning practising, through our church and assembly singing which sets the mood for the
day. Class music lessons, specialist instrumental tuition and many evening concerts with visiting musicians take place
throughout the term.
We believe that nurturing the musical gifts and talents of children through music lessons and performance can have
many benefits. They foster creativity, build confidence, teach patience, show how to work as a team, encourage selfdiscipline and complement other aspects of our broad curriculum.
It was with this in mind that the School embarked on an ambitious project to fund, and
build a new Music School which would be of the highest standard and provide new
opportunities for the children’s music potential to flourish.
We are delighted to have received so much generous
support for this project. Over three quarters of a
million pounds of fund-raising during the past
year has enabled our dream to become a reality.
We hope that this wonderful new facility,
shared with the local community, will continue
to attract outstanding pupils, staff and visiting
professionals to a school providing some
of the best music facilities amongst Prep
Schools in the United Kingdom.
