EDUCATION
THE POLITICAL VISION OF CRANBROOK SCHOOL
This November, Cranbrook School will be holding its first Europe week
to raise pertinent questions for the student body. One of the great things
about the Sixth Form here is that students are truly empowered to follow
their passions and are supported no matter what their vision.
Over the last two years, there has been a growing fascination with politics,
and our current Head Girl came to us in Year 12, keen to start a small
lunchtime club for high-level political discussion. From what started small,
great swathes of students followed suit, and before we knew it, over 100
were turning up to debate a great variety of challenging topics. To celebrate
this growth, the two leading students arranged a politics week in the run up
to the election and organised an event to host the five local MP candidates
to cap off their year. This was an amazing occasion with a huge audience.
This autumn’s Europe week is a return to this format where the
referendum will be debated with representatives from all parties visiting
the school, as well as European-themed events throughout the whole
week. These events capture what make this place so fantastic; students
have the opportunity to pursue their passions and are in an environment
where all are proud to be academically curious.
