Here's the problem: we are all very aware, and
indeed concerned that fossil fuels are diminishing,
and that alternative energy sources are essential
if we are to survive as a species, thus preventing
cats from taking over the world. We cheer on
developments such as Tesla fuel cells, Arc
Reactors (okay Marvel made that one up!) and
solar panels, but if the truth be known, we still
want to have the occasional bit of fun as well.
Do all new planet-loving cars really have to be
utterly dull and lifeless, and quash all the joy and
thrill out of driving? Thanks to Golf, apparently
not!
Drawing a lot of inspiration and features from the
legendary GTI and GTD models, this stunning
plug-in hybrid car manages to infuse ecofriendliness with sheer fun, making it all things to
all men (and ladies, of course!).
As you'd expect from previous Golf incarnations,
the GTE is nothing less than a very handsome
looking car. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to
identify it as an 'electric' car, such are its
homogeneous 'Golf-y' good looks, giving it a
well-earned sporty appearance. It is well put
together too by a company with many years of
motor-manufacturing experience and a great
pride in its vehicles.
Internally the GTE exudes comfort and style, with
some great features such as the Discover
Navigation system, managed by an eight-inch
touch screen and including Bluetooth, a navigation
system, DVD drive (for movies or music) and
DAB radio. The system is very user-friendly and
you will soon be handling it with the greatest of
ease. The navigation system is excellent, with
options for fast, short and eco-friendly (based

on the current traffic information, to help you
avoid congestion!).
With an economy of a staggering 166mpg and
emissions of just 39g/km,
