EVENTS magical memories at turner contemporary ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME MEMORIES WERE MADE MAGICAL IN MARGATE FOR GUY AND ANDREW AT THEIR TURNER CONTEMPORARY WEDDING. Newlyweds Guy and Andrew reminisce about their sunny seaside wedding at Turner Contemporary. Situated in Margate, a vibrant, creative town experiencing a renaissance, Turner Contemporary is the South East’s most spectacular wedding venue. “We looked at quite a few venues after we got engaged, including hotels, country homes and manor houses, but we didn’t want a traditional space. We didn’t want our day to be spent in someone else’s home. Turner Contemporary’s elegant and open spaces filled with natural light sold it for us.” Margate enjoys a vibrant creative scene and its iconic coastal gallery Turner Contemporary, designed by the award-winning David Chipperfield Architects, made an exciting and inspiring venue for Guy and Andrew’s special day. “We’re both local to Kent and love the sea, so it was really important to us that we were able to have our ceremony, reception and meal overlooking the panoramic North Sea views and its radiant skies”, which Britain’s best-loved painter JMW Turner described as ‘the loveliest in all Europe’. From vintage to haute couture, traditional to contemporary, this venue truly complements a variety of tastes and styles. “We decided that less was more when it came to room decoration – Turner Contemporary’s interior is clean, linear and made a unique statement on its own, but we did add a few personal touches, making our own bunting, centrepieces and favours.” Working closely with Kent and Thanet-based suppliers, Turner Contemporary’s dedicated wedding team ensured that Guy and Andrew’s celebration was flawless. “The team had everything in hand, which meant we really were able to sit back and enjoy our day.” “After the ceremony, there was a chance for our guests to look around Turner Contemporary’s Grayson Perry: Provincial Punk exhibition and 30 play Carlos Amorales’ We Will See How Everything Reverberates, an interactive sculpture made from propelled cymbals – particularly enjoyed by our younger guests!” With Margate’s historic Old Town and sandy beaches close by, Turner Contemporary offers the wedding party more than four walls. “It was incredible to make our vows surrounded by worldclass art and being right on Margate sands meant that we were able to walk on the beach and reflect together once all our guests had gone home. Watching the sunset over Margate bay was such a romantic setting to end our perfect day.” Memories from Guy and Andrew’s wedding day were caught on camera by Paul Webb, Webb Weddings.
