Another year closer to 40, and whilst
the ever increasing age does become harder
to accept, the blow was well and truly
softened by good friends, and of course
my hubby. From my Champagne (well
prosecco, but close enough) breakfast, to
a day of being completely spoilt, and the
races, it was the perfect birthday! The
girls all chipped in and bought me the
most amazing bangle too, which I love
so much that I haven’t taken it off yet!

Speaking of birthdays, how is my baby turning four
this month? It seems like only yesterday I was teaching
her to walk, and now I struggle to keep up with her.
Where does the time go? All of her little pre-school
friends are coming to ours for a garden party/riot the
Saturday after – I just hope the weather holds. Like
most four-year-old girls, Ella’s obsessed with Frozen,
so it was the natural choice for the theme. I’m not sure
how many paddling pools are in the film, but this
weather is too good not to make the most of, so I’ve
bought this version and told the parents to bring
swimming gear and a change of clothes!
She doesn’t seem big enough to be starting school
next month, but as much as I’m dreading it, I’ve actually
loved buying all her bits and bobs; everything is grown
up, but little at the same time. Oddly, she didn’t want
a Frozen lunchbox (!!) so we went for this lunch bag
instead, with a backpack to match; I’m certain it’s
going to be bigger than she is! Buying her little school
shoes was a bit of a drama as there were so many to
choose from – buckles, flashing lights, flowers, no
flowers – and the little madam had a firm opinion
about ALL of them. There are some battles you just
