2015 HAIR TRENDS
FROM THE BLUEBEARDS REVENGE
YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET AWAY WITH THE WASH-AND-GO LOOK WHILE ON HOLIDAY, BUT FOR
MOST, THE WARMER MONTHS STILL INVOLVE GOING TO WORK. AN UNKEMPT ‘DO IS NOT GOING TO
CUT IT UNDER THE WATCHFUL EYE OF YOUR BOSS, SO WITH THE MERCURY SLOWLY BEGINNING TO
RISE, IT’S A GOOD TIME TO GIVE YOUR SUMMER HAIRSTYLE SOME SERIOUS THOUGHT.
BALMY EVENINGS AND SWEATY DAYS ON THE BEACH DON’T HAVE TO MEAN FOREGOING THE STYLING
PRODUCTS ALL TOGETHER, AND NOR DO YOU HAVE TO SUCCUMB TO LIMP, GREASY HAIR. THERE ARE
SOME GREAT LOOKS AROUND THIS SEASON WHICH GUARANTEE TO KEEP YOU FEELING COOL AS
WELL AS LOOKING IT, SO WHETHER IT’S A SLIGHT TWEAK YOU’RE AFTER OR A COMPLETE OVERHAUL,
THERE’S A SUMMER STYLE FOR YOU.
Blunt cut
Once again, the hair is clippered shorter at the back and sides, often with
a tapered effect. The upper section of the hair is blunt cut – chopped all
to the same length, and left thick and chunky to create almost a solid block
of hair when styled.
To style:
Use a dry product such as The Bluebeards Revenge Matt Paste, and work
into the roots, smoothing hair into place as you go.
This look also works well styled into a pompadour. Add some pomade for
the obligatory wet-look finish and hold, and use a hairdryer to create volume,
smoothing any flyaways with hands as you go.
The Undercut
A huge trend in the 90s, the undercut is making a comeback, but thankfully,
the once popular ‘curtains’ style is but a distant memory. Nowadays, the
longer top section sits higher on the head so that the shaved section –
usually clippered to a grade one – is exposed, and is often seen combed
back, swept to the side, or worn in a voluminous quiff. Depending on the
desired look, the top section may be point-cut or razored.
Short back and sides
To style:
For a modern take on the classic slicked-back look, scrape the top section
of hair back with a wet look pomade for a high-shine finish, or for a more
voluminous, textured look, part hair at the side and blow dry the top section
into a side-swept quiff. To finish, run a small amount of The Bluebeards
Revenge Matt Clay through from root to tip for hold.
The cut to be seen with currently is a variation of the short-back-and-sides
look, which enables you to recreate virtually any of the season’s key trends.
A modern and versatile cut that can be worn in a number of ways, it
traditionally sees the back and sides clippered down to a grade one so
that the scalp is exposed, with a slight fade from top to bottom below the
curve of the head, but can be left a little longer if desired.
To style:
The look famously championed by Elvis in the 1950s is now considered
a classic rock & roll style, and a modern take on the Pompadour has made
it one of this season’s key trends. Volume is achieved with help of a
hairdryer, with hair pulled upwards and backwards, away from the face.
To finish, you’ll need The Bluebeards Revenge Pomade to provide hold
and to smooth fly-aways, making for a slick, suave, high-shine finish. Work
a small amount between palms and fingertips and smooth into shape.
To get a look that Beckham himself would be proud of, ditch the pomade
and instead, work The Bluebeards Revenge Matt Clay in from root to tip
and sweep backwards with the hands to create a loose quiff. This look is
a lot more textured and less refined, and the idea is to keep it looking
piecey and undone. For best results, keep the back and sides around a
grade three, and grow out the upper layer to allow for added volume.
