NEWS © Hufton and Crow TURNER CONTEMPORARY REACHES £1 MILLION CATALYST ENDOWMENT TARGET Following two years of significant fundraising activity, Turner Contemporary has successfully reached its £1 million Catalyst Endowment target. Thanks to the remarkable support of donors and visitors, regional, national and international, Turner Contemporary was able to reach this substantial financial target ahead of the Catalyst Endowment deadline of 31st March 2015. Since April 2013, the gallery has been actively seeking to raise £1 million in order to benefit from a further £1 million in match funding from Catalyst – an initiative launched by the Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) and Arts Council England to make cultural organisations more sustainable. All £1 million funds raised through the endowment will help Turner Contemporary to continue making art accessible to everyone, grow the learning and outreach programmes, and make an even greater impact on Margate and Kent’s future. Victoria Pomery, director of Turner Contemporary, states: “We are absolutely delighted that Turner Contemporary has reached its £1 million Catalyst Endowment target. We would like to thank all of the donors and visitors who have generously given and supported us over the past two years, without whom reaching this enormous target would not have been possible. All donations made will now be doubled, resulting in a £2 million contribution towards sustaining Turner Contemporary’s future. "This significant achievement concludes a fantastic third year for the gallery, which has brought superb exhibitions of world-class art to Kent and received a Royal visit from Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge.” Turner Contemporary, a registered charity, successfully reached this £1 million target two weeks ahead of its fourth birthday, another significant milestone for the gallery, which has now received more than 1.5 million visits and has generated more than £32 million into the local economy through tourism and inward investment. www.turnercontemporary.org 14
