GETAWAYS
MAKING MEMORIES
UK Half Term Breaks
BY LISAMARIE LAMB
Half term is a great time to get the family together after weeks of mad-morning panics, rushed goodbyes,
and swiftly eaten dinners. It should be used as a week to unwind and relax, and to make sure you are
prepared for the next onslaught of work and school. If you can possibly get away during half term, it’s
even better – and you’ll be amazed at the difference it makes when term begins again.
Here are some ideas on where to go during half term; each one will give you the chance to spend
some quality time with the kids, and make some incredible memories too.
Center Parcs
With five different locations to choose from
(Longleat Forest, Sherwood Forest, Elveden
Forest, Woburn Forest, and Whinfell Forest), there
is always a Center Parcs reasonably close to you.
The great thing about this family orientated holiday
park is that you don’t need to leave it once you’ve
arrived – from the famous indoor pool complex
and huge range of sporting activities on site, to
the supermarkets, restaurants and bars, you have
everything you need on your own peaceful,
woodland doorstep. Bike hire is recommended
to get you around, and for very little ones there
are options such as bike seats or trailers too.
There are different bookable activities going on
every day, and even a babysitting service should
you need it. All in all, Center Parcs is a fun family
break that offers you everything you could possibly
want.

Bluestone National Park Resort
Helen’s Tower
If you have ever fancied yourself as a fairytale princess (or prince), then
Helen’s Tower might just be the perfect place to get away from it all. Perched
in the stunning hills of County Down, Northern Ireland, this three-storey
stone tower is found in the woods of the Clandeboye Estate. Although not
large (bigger families might not be able to go for this one), it is fully equipped
with all kitchen and bedding. There is even an open fire, just in case it gets
chilly! Nearby there is a rare breeds park, Bangor Abbey, the Ava Gallery,
and Project 24 (an art gallery and studio).

If you like the idea of heading to Wales for your half term break, then the
Bluestone National Park Resort is a great place to end up. Located in the
midst of stunning scenery, this holiday park is crammed full of adventure
and excitement, including pools and activities such as the chance to be a
space explorer for the day! While the children enjoy the range of games on
offer, soft play, bouncy castles, Lego rooms, crazy golf, and various play
areas, the adults can relax in the spa, take on 4x4 adventures, and have
a go at zip wires and tree climbing. There's loads to do, and many extras
available to make your stay absolutely perfect.
