Commanding an enviable seafront location, the Sands Hotel in Margate
marries boutique-style accommodation and contemporary interiors, with
unrivalled views of the Thanet Coast.
Residing in a Victorian build, owner Nick Conington originally bought
the property at auction in 2011 with the intent to turn it into flats. However,
after discovering that it had once been a popular hotel, he setabout restoring
it to its former glory.
Inspired by Margate's unique seascape, today the hotel boasts
exceptional interiors throughout its communal areas and 20-ensuite
bedrooms; think sparkling sands, vast open skies, and marine hues.
I had the pleasure of staying in one of the hotel's superior sea view
rooms, a light and airy suite with French windows that lead out onto a
private balcony. In addition to sumptuous furnishings and well-appointed
décor, luxuries include an opulent king-size bed; duvets and pillows filled
with pure jasmine silk; a high-definition TV; Wi-Fi, mini fridge, complete with
complimentary refreshments; tea- and coffee-making facilities; Lubatti
products, and more.
In a bid to achieve ultimate guest wellbeing, the hotel also works with
The IndigoTree's holistic therapist, Lydia, who upon booking, offers
a selection of amazing treatments to be enjoyed in the comfort of your
hotel room.
Dinner that evening was served in the hotel's two-AA Rosette Bay
Restaurant. A contemporary and glamorous space that affords stretching
views over Margate beach, this impressive eatery also boasts a large westfacing terrace, perfect for al fresco dining when the ol' weather permits.
