CHARITY GO THE DISTANCE TO FIGHT HEART DISEASE AT THE BHF’S BRANDS HATCH HALF MARATHON Make your mark in the fight for every heartbeat and join the British Heart Foundation (BHF) by running 13.1 miles around one of the UK’s most historic and spectacular sporting venues – the Brands Hatch race circuit. Entries are now open for the first ever BHF Brands Hatch Half Marathon, which will take place on Sunday 1st March 2015. Half Marathon is expected to attract 5,000 runners to challenge themselves against some of motorsports most iconic bends, turns and highspeed straights, while raising vital funds. The event also offers a 10k route to cater for friends and family members looking for their individual challenge. Alistair Hills, regional event organiser for the BHF, said: “We’re very excited about this new addition to the BHF Half Marathon Series. This event will be a great opportunity for charity and club runners alike to challenge themselves on a unique course. “Coronary heart disease is not beaten yet – it remains the single biggest killer in the UK. It is responsible for almost 80,000 deaths each year – that’s over 200 people dying every single day. The BHF is calling for the people of London, Kent and beyond to support the search for the breakthrough that’s so desperately needed. For one day, put aside your regular routine and unite with the nation’s heart charity to fight back against coronary heart disease, the UK’s single biggest killer. The inaugural BHF Brands Hatch “A BHF event is the perfect way to support the nation’s heart charity, save lives and improve heart health at the same time.” The Half Marathon route is made up of two laps of a specifically designed course that takes in the full Grand Prix circuit, which is owned by MotorSport Vision (MSV), as well as the rally stage and surrounding tracks and paths, staying completely and safely within the venue grounds. Entry to the BHF Brands Hatch Half Marathon is £26 for the Half Marathon and £19 for the 10k run. Entry is not available on the day of the event, so runners must register in advance at www.bhf.org.uk/brandshatch or by calling 0845 130 8663. All entry fees contribute towards the cost of the event, meaning that all sponsorship raised by participants goes towards funding the BHF’s life-saving work. ENJOY A NIGHT OUT WITH THE STARS AT CHYPS SHOWTIME DINNER DANCE SIGN UP FOR A TOUR OF KENT AND RAISE VITAL FUNDS FOR DEMELZA Celebrity singers will be taking to the stage this autumn at Salomons for a Showtime Dinner Dance in aid of local children’s hospice charity, chYps. Organised by Blackpalfrey Motor Club of Kent, the home of historic road events in the South East, the next Tour of Kent will take place on Sunday 5th October and again, has been included in the HRCR Scenic Tour Series. Jamie Johnson with chYps patient, Cameron Edmonds Compère weather girl, Kaddy LeePreston, will be welcoming fellow stars on stage at the glitzy event on Saturday 18th October, including talented singer, Jamie Johnson, who came fourth on this year’s BBC One series, The Voice. Younger interesting cars will be allowed at the organisers’ discretion. Although the day has been designed to allow for two people in each car, extra persons may be carried for an additional fee. You will be given an easy-to-follow road book to direct you along a carefully designed route. There will also be stops for morning coffee and lunch, before the route winds its way to the finish for a wellearned afternoon tea. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Demelza and you are invited to make a voluntary donation with your entry.
