KENT HIGH-TECH START-UP
LAUNCHES THE NATIONAL EVENTS DIARY
AT CLAIMADAY.COM
TIGER-funded digital enterprise claimaday.com has created
The National Events Diary for event organisers to help them
avoid event clashes.
Launched for full public coverage in September,
claimaday.com will make perfect sense to busy
organisers of the 17+ million public events held
in the UK each year. Business, charity and
voluntary sectors are all heavily involved in event
planning. Claimaday will help them avoid date
clashes, and boost the outcome of their event,
through a powerful database storing dates of
everything from national shows, seminars and
famous festivals like Glastonbury, all the way
down to regional and local events.
Previously, event organisers needed to access
several sources to test the viability of a specific
date. A simple search on claimaday.com allows
organisers to find the best date and claim it.
Claimaday received a secured TIGER loan of
£121,000 and aims to secure 46 equivalent full
time jobs by the end of year three, providing
jobs, training and apprenticeships and growth
for the Borough of Swale.
Endorsed by Kent County Council, Claimaday
has already attracted major events organisations
in Kent, including Visit Kent, IOD Kent and Invicta
Chamber of Commerce. Marcus Chrysostomou,
head of external communications at Kent County
Council said: “I can see Claimaday playing an
important role in our crucial planning processes
– a key piece of kit that my team can use to
deliver fantastic events in Kent.”
Ultimately, attendance will make or break an
event’s success, a fact that prompted founding
directors and entrepreneurs Derrick Swain, Claire
Burroughs and Louise Cox-Chester to develop
this innovative concept of a national events diary.

Claire Burroughs said: “I once had to cancel an
event due to a clash and I vowed to find a way
never to let it happen again. When cost and
reputation are at stake, it is vital that those behind
any event are able to mitigate potential disasters.”
