Start your stroll from the coffee shop, a training
venue for adults with learning disabilities. Past
the café, head down the concrete steps towards
the chicken pens. Pepenbury boasts a small
farm, home to guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens,
donkeys, pigs and goats.
Follow the signposts to the woodland walk and
turn right across the field to enter the shady
woodland.
Along the way you’ll spot plenty of wildlife,
including deer, badgers, stoats and dormice.
High in the trees, the Greater Spotted
woodpeckers have made their home here. While
the green woodpecker’s vibrant feathers might
just catch your eye, you’ll need to open your
ears to hear the drumming sound this bird makes
against the trees, letting others know their
whereabouts.
Twayblade orchid. Come back in the spring and
the woods become a fantastic bluebell walk.
