EDUCATION
IN ASSOCIATION WITH
Looking to the future…
Martyn Ward,
Headmaster, Marlborough House School
Like any other organisation, schools can’t stand still; they have to change and adapt, to continually strive
to provide the best education they can. Unlike other organisations, however, their ‘customers’, the pupils,
represent the future in a very real way – the young people in the care of schools will be the next generation
of entrepreneurs, business leaders, politicians, sportsmen and women, musicians, actors and, who knows,
maybe even teachers. In a school you can never lose sight of the future: it’s there looking back at you.
In recent times, there has often been a conflict
in education between preparing children to pass
exams successfully and producing well-rounded
individuals ready to make a meaningful
contribution to society in whatever their chosen
field may be. At Marlborough House however,
children are guided to understand themselves,
to understand their responsibilities to each other
and to the wider world.
The pupils are challenged to think for themselves
and they are supported in developing new
interests and skills. In short, Marlborough House’s
pupils are encouraged to make the best of every
opportunity offered to them. Educating for the
future, then, means thinking not only about results
and winning; if all that matters to us as parents
and teachers is gaining A*s, we are aiming too
low and in fact at the wrong target. The reality
is that when we commit to an all-round education
– in its widest sense, educating mind, body and
spirit – we are giving our children the best possible
preparation for the future.
The future for our children is bold, inspiring and
exciting – and it starts with a truly all-round
education. You’re invited to see for yourself the
outstanding education offered at Marlborough
House.
