ARTS+ENTERTAINMENT SEE THE BEST LOCAL AND NATIONAL TALENT AT create FESTIVAL Sunday 27th July With an estimated 13,000 visitors throughout the day, Ashford Create Festival is one of the South East’s biggest free music festivals. Last year there was even more reason to celebrate, as Create turned 18 years old! Now that Create is all grown up and heading towards its 19th birthday, on Sunday 27th July, it promises to continue showcasing the best of local and national talent in the glorious surrounds of Victoria Park. Photos © Peter Fry Create has come a long way since its origins, and now hosts four live music stages, national headline acts, spoken word events, street performers, local market stalls, food vendors, two beer tents, children’s play areas and rides. Last year saw UK band Dodgy headline the festival on Sunday night with Charlatan’s Tim Burgess performing an intimate set at the Create Friday Night Soundcheck at Revelation St. Mary’s. Nizlopi Ashford Create Festival 2014 promises to be even better with a Saturday Night Sound Check with Toploader, and Nizlopi headlining the free festival in the park on the Sunday. Ashford’s own Intermission Project has been revealed as the main stage support, and will be joined by the likes of ‘fip folk’ act Coco & the Butterfields, One Day Elliot and Ben Russell and the Charmers. The new Revelation St Mary’s stage will feature a compelling mix of spoken word ‘slams’ and music from High Tide, Ted Clarke’s Brother Bare, and Orfila. The Right Track Music stage will once again feature a host of up and coming local talent, headlined by Old Town Souls, while the Create and Canterbury College DJ stage will be laying down some serious beats from the likes of Craig C and Adam Dowling. But the fun doesn’t stop – or start – in Victoria Park! Hit Brit band Toploader will open the weekend with a one-off show at St Mary’s Church on Saturday 26th July, supported by Ashford acts James Kirby and Pip Bowers and the Family Bones. /ashfordcreate The full line up for Create 2014 is as follows: CREATE MAIN STAGE REVELATION STAGE Nizlopi The Intermission Project Coco & the Butterfields One Day Elliot Ben Russell & the Charmers The Alex Beharrell Band Mourning Birds The Doctorates The Standard Lamps South At Zero High Tide Thomas Ashby Ted Clark’s Brother Bare Alex Parker Orfila Sirens & Shelter Edee Caleb Howard-Almond PLUS: SpOke n’ Word Poetry Slams feat: Michael James Parker, Dan Simpson, Joelle Taylor and Lucy Fennell CREATE & CANTERBURY COLLEGE DJ STAGE Craig C Adam Dowling Casey Dale Driftwood Elliot Berger I Killed Kenny Star One Latchmere Both Sides of the Fence OUTDOOR THEATRE Old Town Souls Surrender the Thought The Take Down Moorland Praeter Minus the Rat Pia Harmony Rhythmic Condition Flis RTM RockShop Bands Amy Pennington (The Portrait Machine) Dizzy O Dare (The Wonderful World of Mr E) www.createfestival.co.uk 27 RIGHT TRACK MUSIC STAGE @ashfordcreate
