Paws at the Castle
//2nd & 3rd August
Following the success of Hever Castle’s first Dog Show,
this year’s Paws at the Castle on August 2nd and 3rd
promises to be even bigger and better. With a focus on
‘dogs with jobs’ and how our canine friends help us today,
the weekend has a packed programme of events for dog
owners and dog lovers alike. The show will also be great
fun for your dog, whether big or small, pedigree or cross
breed, rescue dog or pampered pooch.
Displays and entertainment from all
types of working dogs include a
thrilling water event in the lake and
a gun dog display team
demonstration. Over the weekend,
proud owners will have the chance
to take part in fun competitions,
with awards for the winners. Dog
owners can also talk to experts
about their dog’s behaviour and
enjoy browsing the stands of dog
related goodies.
Dating back to the
13th century, Hever Castle is
surrounded by glorious grounds to get lost in and attractions include the
Water Maze, 100-year old Yew Maze and Lake Walk. Additional activities
during August range from ‘Have-a-go Archery’* and boating* on the 38acre lake to trips on the African Queen Steam Boat*.
Hever Castle has always welcomed dogs on leads, and many dog
owners like to bring their family pet for a walk in the grounds and around
the lake. As well as enjoying a day out in the Kent countryside, Paws at the
Castle is a great opportunity to watch the canine contestants demonstrate
their skills and meet fellow dog lovers. And for those who want to make a
day of it, there’s plenty of space to enjoy a picnic or head to our awardwinning restaurant for a delicious lunch or cream tea.
